The Sicilian baglio is a cornerstone of the territory with a protective function and is characterized by workshops, where the residential use intertwines with the productive spaces, overlooking a closed courtyard.
The farmhouse, originally consisting of a watchtower to control the estate, has been expanded over time to meet changing production needs, with the addition of further buildings while maintaining a defensive closure towards the outside but at the same time an open social approach to the territory.
The entire architectural complex is quadrangular in plan with a large internal courtyard from which you access various environments such as the master's house, the steward's house, "le ticchiene" used for the rest of seasonal workers, the stable for horses, the granaries, the oven, the well with the wash house, the mule stable, and the winepress.
The rural church, integrated into the perimeter walls but with access from the outside, allowed nearby residents to participate in religious functions. A similar social opening is currently developing with the introduction of agriculture geared towards social and educational purposes.
To this end, part of the farm has recently been renovated using bio-building materials and technical criteria aimed at energy and water saving with the installation of photovoltaic and solar thermal systems and rainwater reuse.
