quote

Baglio Nixima, ancient walls from which the agricultural development of the Nixima feud began, lies on the vast, multicolored carpet of the lush crops of the plain of Catania.

In Baglio, in the heart of Val di Noto, you can still appreciate the sensation of the 19th-century "Grand Tour" with the discovery of authentic traditions that make Sicily unique. Nothing has changed here, the local traditions, ancient memories of a bygone past, are recovered and maintained, elevated as witnesses to enhance the passage of time and deliver them intact to future generations.

THE STORY

The Nixima estate, located in the countryside of Mineo, is a farm managed by Caterina Grimaldi di Nixima, an agricultural entrepreneur and horse breeder, descendant of the Grimaldi ancient family of Genoese origin settled in Sicily since the fourteenth century.

Princess Caterina inherits her passion for horses from her father, who in turn continued the breeding activity started by her great-grandfather, who already in the mid-nineteenth century introduced the first specimens of the Arabian Thoroughbred horse from Syria to Sicily. The horses present in Sicily today all descend without interruption from that original lineage. The native breed of Arabian Thoroughbred, with limited diffusion, is a testament to the precious animal biodiversity of the equine heritage, skillfully preserved.

Continuing the family entrepreneurial and agricultural traditions, Caterina, immersed in nature since childhood among wheat fields and ancient olive trees, surrounded by the intoxicating scent of orange blossom groves, chooses to innovate while respecting traditions. She reintroduces historical productions such as ancient Sicilian grains and hemp, maintaining and enhancing typical citrus crops in the plain of Catania. She values the varieties of IGP Tarocco red oranges, which are particularly rich in anthocyanins, valuable substances for the immune system, thanks to the presence of Mount Etna.

To meet the taste of the most refined palates, the company's product range is enriched with lemons, almonds, pomegranates, prickly pears, orange blossom honey, and DOP Monti Iblei extra virgin olive oil. Special attention is given to environmentally friendly cultivation systems in line with sustainable agriculture.
